Cup Rugby Returns To Penallta

Penallta face Seven Sisters tomorrow in the 3rd round of the Swalec Plate.

The winners of the Plate competition will get to lift the trophy at the Millennium Stadium, something Penallta made history by doing back in 2012.

Seven Sisters will be tough opposition. The Neath Valle side are one of the oldest rugby clubs in Wales, beginning life way back in 1897 in a pit village, similar to Penallta. They currently sit fourth in Division 1 West Central and knocked out Gilfach Goch in the last round.

The game will take place at 2pm on Trinity Fields next to the rugby club.

At 2.30pm the Troopers play at Sue Noake sports centre against Ynysybwl, whilst the Youth Blues have a game at 4pm on the 3G, Centre of Sporting Excellence. The Youth Golds are playing away from home.

Tomorrow's match-day programme contains plenty of exclusives. Mystic Ray reads the horoscopes of his Trooper players and we list the 2016 new book releases of the Penallta players. An eclectic mix of memoirs, self-help manuals, guides and autobiographies are on this year's best-seller list, with J R Hartley, the epic biography by Dai Trout, sitting at number one. Chairman Gareth Davies welcomes Seven Sisters to our cub, Sir David Finance, as ever, gives his humbug view of the world and lastly, we have a double-page feature on the Brave Genius of Jonny Wright. Jonny is a Penallta legend and deserves recognition for his amazing career achievements. Not many players have moved from hooker to outside half to prop, but somehow Jonny has.

A lovely crisp winter's day is in store so come along and enjoy the sunshine and watch the Penallta boys take on the challengers from West Wales. It should be a great day.
