Massive Double Header at Penallta

There is a mouth-watering double header of rugby at Penallta tomorrow.

First up on Trinity Fields, Penallta Youth take on Merthyr Youth in a 12.30 kick off. The youngsters are playing entertaining rugby this season and competing with the best teams about. It's exciting times for the young Pitmen, with so many players in captain Ben Griffiths's squad looking to shine. With the 2nd team boys away against Rhiwbina in the National Conference, the young stars, who have already drawn big crowds this season, would welcome the support of the home Penallta faithful.

After that it's the big one; the one we've all been waiting for. First place takes on second place as unbeaten Penallta take on unbeaten Brynmawr on the 3G at 2.30pm. This is without doubt the biggest Division 1 game of the season so far, fought out between two immovable objects. Both teams have rampaged through the league fixtures so far, and are still competing in all the cup competitions.

The Pitmen are aiming to make it ten wins from ten with their new-look side. If last week's performance against Pencoed in the National Plate was anything to go by, then the boys are in great form, scoring a glut of blistering tries out wide.

Brynmawr will be the team to beat this year. With Damien Hudd back as captain, and powerful Nathan Preece in the centre, the Mawr looked ominously strong. Both Hudd and Preece had glittering Premiership careers with Ebbw Vale, and are now back to put their home club on the winner's podiums.

But Penallta are past masters at seeing off the big challenges. This game should be an ansolute thriller.

Let's get there tomorrow to support the boys in two great games of rugby. The blue and gold flag has flown high and mighty across Penallta's senior rugby sides this season, and tomorrow's games are yet more mouth-watering fixtures on the ever-exciting calendar.

Best of luck to all teams.
