Jedburgh RFC visit Penallta for the international weekend

Scottish rugby's Jed-Forest RFC are travelling to Wales this weekend. The historic borders club arrive at Penallta tomorrow afternoon and will receive a big welcome from the Pitmen.

To kick off a wonderful weekend of rugby Jed-Thistle play Penallta Youth at the Centre of Sporting Excellence* at 4pm tomorrow.

After the game the Jedburgh tourists will be hosted at Penallta RFC, where a youth party has been organised. Superstar DJ Brannan will be manning the decks in the main hall helping the Penallta youngsters raise money for their Benidorm tour. It should be a hell of a party.

Those of us of a more sophisticated vintage will be gathered together in the lounge, where the Welsh and Scots parties can debate the Six Nations chances of their respective teams long into the night, over at least a few thousand beers.

Jed-Forest are one of the oldest clubs in rugby union history and their former player roster is a who's who of Scottish international rugby. One of their former Grand Slam winning greats, Scottish and British Lion scrum half Gary Armstrong, is travelling to Wales with the party and will be watching the youth game tomorrow.

It'll be a privilege to welcome one of the greats of the game to our club and the youth boys are excited to play in this exhibition match. Any supporters who fancy starting the weekend's festivities early can come along and watch two quality Celt youth sides go full throttle at a perfect venue for rugby.

*Unfortunately, no drinking is permitted within the CSE perimeter. You'll have to wait until your back in the clubhouse until the real fun starts.
