Best wishes to club president Allan Rogers as he returns home

Best wishes from all at Penallta to club president Allan Rogers.

Allan recently sailed through a hip replacement only to contract pneumonia whilst in hospital. Sadly for the pneumonia, it met its match in the former Westminster MP, finding itself roundly beaten into submission, like so many of Mr Rogers' opposition Tory MPs down the years.

Allan hardly ever misses a game so will be keen to recover fully and return to the Penallta sidelines, perhaps in time for his 84th birthday, which is only ten days away.

Allan's grandsons have been playing some great rugby whilst he was in hospital. Elder grandson Pat Lewis is playing regularly on the wing and scoring heaps of tries for Bedwas in the Premiership, an amazing feat for the young lad, who is still technically a youth player. And Pat's younger brother Ciaran has been one of Penallta Youth's stand-out players this season, on and off the field. Not only is Ciaran a lovely rugby player, he's also a brilliant character. Just like his Grandad!

All the best Allan, we hope you get better soon. If the recovery goes quicker than expected there's still time to put your name down for the end-of-season tour to Benidorm. Everybody at Penallta wishes you well and we look forward to seeing you soon.
